MY JOURNEY
About Me And My Journey
Hi! I'm Lorrie, a writer and author, and I'm passionate about sharing my journey to peace, wholeness, and soul-purposed living. I believe this is a universal striving, and when we remember we're all in this together, wonderful things can happen. I have been writing two books that emphasize this message. I am a co-author to the book 365 Soulful Messages: The Right Guidance at the Right Time. I collaborated with over 200 authors, and we each wrote inspiring, true stories from our lives of timely guidance. This book came out in November 2019 and became a #1 Amazon Bestseller. The second book is my own, and it is a work in progress and a labor of love. It is called An Invitation to Co-Creation: Our Call to Co-Create Love, Peace, and Oneness. In this book, I share my spiritual journey, including my struggles and joys. The book also offers an opportunity to be part of a collective journey.
Until recently, I have kept significant portions of my life obscured from view, including my childhood abuse and PTSD. As the oldest and the ”practice” child, I experienced physical and emotional abuse. I was raised in a strict, but loving household, “where children were seen, but not heard”. My Catholic grammar school education and church experiences mirrored my home life messages of fear, unworthiness, and punishment. As a child I became accustomed to hiding my feelings, beliefs, and opinions, if they didn't mesh with my parents or religious upbringing. When I was younger, my silence felt like a necessary mechanism to keep me safe. However, later on, it became an impediment to my spiritual growth and living my truth.
My spiritual life has been hidden until lately, as well. I have been getting divine communication from God, Jesus, Blessed Mother Mary, and the angels ever since I developed a debilitating medical disorder in 1987, and traditional medicine had no answers or treatment. My prayers were answered through signs, intuitions, synchronicities, and more which guided me to holistic practitioners and complementary treatment modalities, which led to my eventual healing. My faith returned too, as I had been agnostic since I was 18. I now identify as a Non-Traditional, Progressive Christian. I also resonate with the Perennial Tradition, the belief that all faiths and spiritual paths based on love point to a universal truth and come from a singular Divine source. After my faith was reawakened, I had many peak spiritual experiences. A significant one occurred while riding with my husband, Tony near Emmitsburg, MD. A profound peace came over me, which lasted several hours. I took this as a sign to explore the town further. On another occasion Tony and I drove to the National Shrine Grotto at Lourdes in Emmitsburg. This Shrine is a replica of the original located in Lourdes France, where Bernadette saw apparitions of the Blessed Mother Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes. When we visited there, I experienced the same deep serenity as before and received messages from Blessed Mother to guide my life.
Several years later, I was in a car accident that turned my life upside down. I prayed to Mary for healing and direction for my life. Mary instructed me to write the script for my desired life, as if I were already healed. She also asked me to write the book An Invitation to Co-Creation: Our Call to Co-Create Love, Peace, and Oneness. Mary noted that this invitation is inclusive of all faith traditions and spiritual paths based on love and for all that desire heavenly help to create joyful, soul-purposed lives. The aim of Mary's invitation is to heal ourselves, our communities, and our world. Healing occurs as we experience inner peace, which we then extend to the world. The inner work for peace requires a willingness to acknowledge both our strengths and our shadow selves. We are encouraged to see our lives with compassion and to expand our compassion to include the "others". When we recognize ourselves in the "others", the boundaries from hurts and differences can dissolve. This recognition enabled me to find forgiveness and compassion for my parents and experience inner peace. As we experience our shared humanity, the externals that separate us begin to evaporate, allowing us to experience our oneness with one another. The path to peace also involves seeing the world as an us, choosing love and respect for one another, and appreciating our diversity.
My own Invitation to Co-Creation, I found out later, was not just about physical healing. Rather, it has been an opportunity to look at all aspects of my life and what needs to change to bring my life into greater congruence with my soul's purpose. This has included coming out of the spiritual closet, speaking my truth, and living my life authentically. I am tremendously humbled that Our Blessed Mother Mary has entrusted me with this writing project. I am also immensely grateful for the continued guidance Mary provides me for writing and sharing her message of love, peace, and oneness, as well as assisting me on my healing journey.
Writing this book has been a deeply transformational process. When I first started the book, I assumed the goal was to provide a blueprint for readers to engage in their own transformational and co-creative journey. However, through the process of writing this book, I have been guided to transform in ways that continue to humble and amaze me.
I hope you will join me, as we walk together on the journey towards love, peace, and oneness.
